(11) Signal limiter valve Main relief valve (10) is a pilot operated relief valve that limits the maximum pressure of the hydraulic system, if the load sensing signal limiter valve fails to operate correctly. The main relief valve pressure setting is higher than the maximum pressure setting of the load sensing signal relief valve.Pump supply oil (9) flows through orifice check valve (5) to spring chamber (7) between dump valve (4) and pilot valve poppet (3). When pump supply oil (9) reaches a pressure higher than the main relief valve pressure setting, poppet (3) moves up against the spring force. As poppet (3) moves upward, oil in lower spring chamber (7) flows around poppet (3) into upper spring chamber (6) and to the tank for short pressure spikes.For long pressure spikes, the flow of oil out of lower spring chamber (7) reduces pressure in lower spring chamber (7). Pump oil pushes dump valve (4) upward and the lower spring is compressed. Pump supply oil flows through return oil passage (8) to the tank.
