CRANKSHAFT PULLEY 4W8504 - Caterpillar

The ECM detects all of the following conditions:
The engine has been running for at least 10 seconds.
Engine oil pressure is below the trip line for two seconds.
100-03 Engine Oil Pressure open/short to +batt is not active.
100-04 Engine Oil Pressure short to ground is not active.System Response:The ECM will log the derate. The ECM derates the engine power by 35 percent. The ECM will restore full power when the engine oil pressure rises above the reset line for twenty seconds.Possible Performance Effect:

There may be a problem with the engine lubrication system.
There may be a problem with the engine oil pressure sensor.Test Step 1. Check for Diagnostic Codes.
Connect the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) to the service tool connector.
Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. The engine should be off.
Check for any active diagnostic codes or logged diagnostic codes.Expected Result:There should be no diagnostic codes that are present.Results:
OK - Proceed to Test Step 2.
Not OK - Repair: Repair the diagnostic codes that are present. Refer to the appropriate topic in the "Troubleshooting With a Diagnostic Code" section of this manual.Ensure that the repair eliminates the problem.STOPTest Step 2. Perform a Check of the Engine Lubrication System.
Perform a check of the engine lubrication system. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Low Engine Oil Pressure".Expected Result:There are no problems with engine oil pressure.Results:
OK - There may be an intermittent problem.Repair: Monitor the operation of the engine.Repair the problem.Ensure that the repair eliminates the problem.STOP
