30. Use steel spacers and a press to push on retainer plate (48) to put three disc springs (50) under compression. Prior to removing three disc springs (50) from housing (44), note their installed positions for assembly purposes.31. Use Tooling (E) to remove retaining ring (49) from housing (44). Release the pressure on plate (48) and remove the retainer plate, springs (50) and No. 5 piston (47) from housing (44).32. Remove the two seal rings from piston (47). 33. Remove ring gear (52) from the No. 3 and No. 4 clutch housing. Remove four friction discs (51) and the three clutch plates from ring gear (52). Remove the reaction plate from the ring gear. 34. Remove No. 4 (third speed) clutch piston (53) and dowels (54) from the clutch housing. 35. Remove seal rings (55) and (56) from clutch piston (53). 36. Use Tooling (F) to hold No. 3 (fourth speed) clutch piston in clutch housing assembly (57). Install two 5/8 inch - 11 NC forged eye bolts in housing (57), as shown. Attach a hoist and suitable lifting chains to the eye bolts. Remove clutch housing assembly (57) and the clutch piston. The weight of the unit is 41 kg (90 lb). 37. Remove clutch piston (58) from clutch housing assembly (57). Remove the seal rings from clutch piston (58). 38. Remove springs (59), three friction discs (60) and the two clutch plates from the No. 2 (forward) clutch housing. 39. Use Tooling (C) to remove retaining ring (62). Remove clutch hub (61). 40. Lift sun gear (63), carrier assembly (64) and ring gear (65) from the transmission shaft as a unit.41. Remove sun gear (63) from carrier assembly (64). 42. Put the lock ring under compression and remove carrier assembly (64) from ring gear (65). Several short lengths of 3.175 mm (.125 inch) diameter rod (66) with a point ground on one end can be used to put the ring under compression. 43. Use a hammer and punch to push the pins through carrier (64) into shafts (67). Remove shafts (67) from carrier (64). 44. Remove washers (68) and (71), gears (69) and bearings (70) from carrier (64). 45. Remove retaining ring (72) that holds bearing (73) in carrier (64). 46. Use Tooling (G) and a press to push bearing (73) out of carrier (64). 47. Use Tooling (B) to hold the forward clutch piston in the housing.48. Install Tooling (A) on the No. 2 (forward) clutch housing, as shown. Attach a hoist and suitable lifting chains to Tooling (A). Remove the bolts and the clutch housing with the clutch piston. The weight of the unit is 27 kg (60 lb). 49. Remove clutch piston (74) from No. 2 (forward) clutch housing (75). Remove the seal rings from clutch piston (74). 50. Remove springs (78) and dowels (77).51. Remove four friction discs (76) and the three clutch plates. 52. Remove ring gear (79) from the carrier assembly and shaft. 53. Remove retaining ring (81) that holds
