Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
A 500 hour engine oil change interval is available, provided that the operating conditions and recommended multigrade oil types are met. When these requirements are not met, shorten the oil change interval to 250 hours, or use an S O S Services oil sampling and analysis program to determine an acceptable oil change interval.If you select an interval for oil and filter change that is too long, you may damage the engine.
Obtain Engine Oil Sample
Open the engine access door on the left side of the machine.
Obtain the regularly scheduled oil sample, if necessary.See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil Sample - Obtain" for the proper procedure.Engine Oil and Filter (Change)
Remove the crankcase drain access cover, which is in the crankcase guard.
Open the crankcase drain valve. Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.

Remove the two bolts and open the access panel just below the left engine access door.

Remove the engine oil filter element (1) and discard the engine oil filter element properly. Make sure that all the old filter seal is removed from the filter base.
Apply a thin coat of clean engine oil to the seal on the new filter. Install the new engine oil filter element by hand.Instructions for the installation of the filters are printed on the side of each Caterpillar spin-on filter. For non-Caterpillar filters, refer to the installation instructions that are provided by the supplier of the filter.
Close the crankcase drain valve. Replace the crankcase guard.

Remove the oil filler cap (1). Fill the crankcase with new oil. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)". Clean the oil filler cap and install the oil filler cap.
Always measure the oil level with dipstick (2) to ensure that the correct amount of oil was added.
On the dipstick, maintain the oil level between the "ADD" mark and the "FULL" mark.
Install the two bolts and close the lower access door on the left side of the machine. Close the left engine access door.High-Speed Oil Change, If Equipped
