Personal injury can result if the machine moves while checking the service brakes.If the machine begins to move during the check, reduce the engine speed immediately and engage the parking brake.
If the machine moved while testing the service brakes, inspect the service brake components for wear or damage. Repair or replace the worn or damaged service brake components as required before returning the machine to service.

High Idle 2275 RPM Introduction
This test will determine if the service brakes are functional. The test is not intended to measure the maximum brake holding effort. The brake holding effort that is required to sustain a machine at a specific engine rpm varies depending on the machine. The variations are the differences in the engine setting, in the power train efficiency, and in the brake holding ability.Test Preparation
Check the area around the machine. Make sure that the machine is clear of personnel and clear of obstacles.Make sure that the steering frame lock is in the STORED position. Not the Locked position.Test the parking brake on a dry, level concrete or asphalt surface. This test should not be on any loose surface such as gravel or soil.Fasten the seat belt before testing the parking brake.Test Procedure
Start the engine. Raise the bucket slightly.
Place transmission in the "MANUAL" mode.
Apply the service brakes and disengage the parking brake.
Place the transmission direction and speed control lever in the Third Gear Forward position.
Gradually increase the engine speed to high idle at 2275 RPM. The machine should not move.Note: Do not run the engine at high idle for more than 5 seconds.
Reduce the engine speed to low idle. Place the transmission direction and speed control in the NEUTRAL position. Engage the parking brake.
Lower the bucket to the ground. Stop the engine.
