Remove the 6U-0570 Cylinder from the machine. Ensure that the 4M-5317 Reducing Bushing that adapts the 1/4" port in the base of the cylinder is removed with the cylinder and that the reducing bushing is not retained on the end of the hydraulic hose that connects to the cylinder. Also, ensure that the 5U-9328 Washer (Stepped Adapter) is removed from the hole in the mounting plate. As a typical example of a removal procedure, refer to Disassembly and Assembly, SENR8202, "D40D & D400D ARTICULATED DUMP TRUCKS POWER TRAIN", "Transmission Lock Cylinder".
From the 6U-0570 Cylinder, retain plunger (1) from the threaded end of the cylinder and nut (2) .
From the outside of the mounting plate, install adapter (4) into the hole in the mounting plate. Use a suitable tool to mark the centers of the four holes in the adapter. Remove the adapter once the centers have been located.
By using the centers that were marked in Step 3, use a suitable drill to cut four 7.5 mm (0.30 inch) holes through the mounting plate. Deburr the holes in order to remove any raised material. Ensure that all components on both sides of the mounting plate are safely moved to one side in order to avoid damage when the holes are drilled.
Use Tool (A) to install bush (7) into adapter (4). Ensure that the bush is inserted level with face (X) on the adapter and that the bush is not deformed during the installation.
From the outside of the mounting plate, install adapter (4). From the inside of the mounting plate, install cylinder (3). Lightly install locknuts (5) and washers (6) in order to secure the adapter and the cylinder together. Do not tighten the locknuts.Note: When you install cylinder (3), ensure that the port on the side of the cylinder is oriented in the same way as the previous cylinder.
In a star pattern, carefully tighten locknuts (5). Tighten the locknuts in order to bring adapter (4) and cylinder (3) together in an even manner and avoid damage to the bushes in the cylinder and the adapter.
Pull and release the shaft on cylinder (3) in order to verify that the shaft smoothly runs in the bushes in the
