Component Code(s) 1901 7620SUBJECT: New ECM Hardware and Software for G3600A+ Engine.
PROBLEM:
Due to parts availability of obsolete components, the 211-5228 ECM for G3600A+ applications is no longer available for production or field service.
SOLUTION:
The new 256-7634 ECM was released to production and field service to replace the 211-5228 ECM. This hardware change required a new ECM suffix code (AK, which requires new G3600A+ V1.9 software to support the new hardware.
In addition to the suffix code support for the AK ECM, the new G3600A+ ECM software also includes the following enhancements:
The improved ET Air Pressure Calibration now incorporates a calibration procedure for the Fuel Pressure input of the Air/Fuel Pressure Module.
Note: The engine will not start after the flashing the new software into the ECM because the diagnostic code of 94-13 Fuel Delivery Pressure Sensor Out of Calibration will be active. Performing the ET Air Pressure Calibration procedure will clear this diagnostic code. It is necessary to ensure that there is no pressure in the lines connected to the pressure module when this calibration procedure is being performed. It may be necessary to disconnect the lines at the module if not able to calibrate successfully.
Note: It is recommended using ET version 2004B SPI for flashing the version 1.9 software.
The 498 - Fuel Pressure Present at Start-up Event was improved to monitor for fuel pressure present prior to engine cranking.
The ECM software part numbers also fix the defect that was one of the root causes for the MIDS display "SOFTWARE REQUIRED!" issue.
Another enhancement is the use of the ET Flash File Description Text block, which can be viewed prior to flashing the ECM. All new software files contain information about the engine ratings and previous software file version history to provide the user with additional validation of the engine application prior to flashing the software.
This new software release supports the new 256-7634 ADEM III-16 3kHz ECM and is backwards compatible with the 211-5228 ADEM III-16 3kHz ECM used on G3600A+ products.
