This Special Instruction will provide instructions for installation and configuration of the Product Link PL522 / PL523 .The PL522 / PL523 product has been designed to install on three categories of machines.One category of machines is referred to as legacy machines. The legacy machines are older machines that do not have a wiring harness that accommodates Product Link already installed. Connectors are not readily available to install the PL522 / PL523 components. The Product Link PL522 / PL523 components that are used in the legacy machines are in the "Legacy Installation Group".The second category of machines is referred to as "Product Link Ready" machines. A machine is considered to be Product Link ready if machine was assembled at factory with a wiring harness with proper connectors to install PL522 / PL523. The"Product Link Ready" machines use the PL522 / PL523 components that are in the "Conversion Installation Group".The third category of machines is machines that may not be Caterpillar machines. These machines can use the legacy installation group.Exclusions and Recommendations
Do not install PL522 / PL523 on F-Series Off-Highway Trucks that are listed in Table 1.

S/N:WSP1-UP Caterpillar does not recommend installing PL522 on the machines that are listed in Table 2. There are ECMs on the machine that are expecting communications from VIMS that are not present with a PL522. For installations on G-Series Off Highway Trucks, refer to Systems Operation, Troubleshooting, Testing and Adjusting, RENR8143, "Product Link - PL522 / PL523".
