(5) Sidecutter down solenoidSidecutter manifold (1) is located in the engine compartment, mounted to the front, upper wall plate. The left front compartment door provides limited access to this component.Note: The illustration shows the manifold through a cut-away of the upper wall plate.Sidecutter manifold (1) contains components used to control the sidecutter system. Oil from the steering manifold flows to the sidecutter manifold.The sidecutter control valve is controlled by the machine ECM, and directs oil to the sidecutter cylinder. Two solenoids control the direction of the cylinder. Sidecutter up solenoid (3) retracts the cylinder, causing the sidecutter to raise. Sidecutter down solenoid (5) extends the cylinder, causing the sidecutter to lower. The sidecutter down pressure can be measured at port"G" (4).A shuttle valve inside sidecutter manifold (1) compares the pressure at each end of the sidecutter cylinder. The highest pressure signal is sent to main relief valve (2) installed in the manifold. The main relief valve limits sidecutter system pressure to 8500 500 kPa (1233 73 psi). When the main relief valve opens, sidecutter system oil flows to the hydraulic tank.Two counterbalance valves are installed in sidecutter manifold (1). These valves ensure that the sidecutter cylinder does not move until pressurized oil is in both ends of the cylinder. Supply oil pressure and return oil pressure combine to shift the counterbalance valve on the return side of the system. This shift allows return oil from the sidecutter cylinder to flow to the hydraulic tank.Anti-cavitation check valves are installed in parallel with each counterbalance valve. These check valves prevent cavitation of the cylinder when external shock loads are encountered.Sidecutter Spray Solenoid

(6) Sidecutter spray solenoidSidecutter spray solenoid (6) is located in the roller frame, above the front drum. A trim panel must be removed to access this component.The machine ECM controls sidecutter spray solenoid (6). When the sidecutter is lowered, the machine ECM energizes the sidecutter spray solenoid on the sidecutter spray valve. In this case, the spray system provides water pressure for the sidecutter spray nozzle. When the sidecutter is raised, the machine ECM de-energizes the sidecutter spray solenoid. This action closes the sidecutter spray valve.Note: The drum water spray system must be on for the sidecutter spray system to receive water. If the drum water spray system is off, the sidecutter spray solenoid is energized, but no water is delivered to the sidecutter.
