Comparison of pedal return springs.--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------Description of Change: The push rod has been improved in the governor pedal group on all articulated dump trucks. The governor pedal repair kits have been changed to use the improved push rod. Use of the improved push rod and the Setup Procedure will help prevent a bent push rod.Adaptable As: The part number of the 6U1 Governor Pedal Group with the improved push rod has not changed. The illustration and chart show and list the components of the current 6U1 Governor Pedal Group with the improved push rod. Both the new 7U1880 Lever And Push Rod Kit and the new 7U1881 Bearing Kit are required to replace either the former 6U8826 Bearing Kit or the former 6U8828 Lever And Push Rod Kit. Use the Setup Procedure when the new kits are installed to insure correct adjustment.
Location of components in current 6U1 Governor Pedal Group. Setup Procedure
Adjust bolt (19) so that pedal (1) contacts the bolt head before push rod (13) reaches maximum travel. Then tighten nut (20). This helps prevent the push rod from being bent. The pedal stop position should correspond to 2.0 to 3.0 mm (.08 to .12") of cable movement past the high idle position.
