The test will measure the performance of the scraper engine.
The test will determine if the retarder and the torque converter lockup clutch are engaging correctly and releasing correctly.
The test will determine if the scraper retarder and torque converter lockup clutch pressures (air and oil) are correct.Procedure
Lower all the implements to the ground. Turn off the engine.
Block the tractor wheels on each side.

Install Tooling (C). Support the rear of the scraper in order to obtain clearance between the wheels and the ground. Refer to Illustration 1.
Remove the tractor axle shafts. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Axle Shaft-Remove".

(1) Pressure tap
At pressure tap (1), remove the plug and install Tooling (B) .
At pressure tap (1), connect Tooling (A) .
Start the tractor engine and run the engine. Be sure that the air pressure is at the normal operating pressure.
With the transmission shift lever in the NEUTRAL position, start and run the scraper engine. Make sure that the "HIGH IDLE" rpm is correct. Operate the engine at LOW IDLE.

(2) Retarder control lever
Shift the transmission shift lever to the FIRST GEAR FORWARD position. Operate the scraper engine at HIGH IDLE rpm. Move retarder control lever (2) to the FULLY ACTIVATED position (pull toward the operator). The scraper engine rpm must be 1700 100 rpm. The pressure reading must be 1390 60 kPa (200 9 psi).Note: Be sure that the torque converter oil does not become too hot.
Push the retarder control lever (2) back to the RELEASE position. The engine rpm must go back to HIGH IDLE rpm.
Shut down both of the engines.ProblemEngine rpm is too high when the retarder control lever (2) is engaged.Probable Cause
There is no air pressure
