Improperly inflated tires can cause excessive heat build-up, resulting in blowouts.Proper inflation equipment and training in its use are necessary to avoid overinflation. A tire blowout or rim failure can result in accidents or personal injury.Use a self-attaching chuck and stand behind the tread when inflating a tire.Set the tire inflation equipment regulator at no more than 140 kPa (20 psi) over the recommended tire pressure.
Over or under inflated tires can cause excessive or uneven tire wear or rim damage.Keep the valve caps on to prevent dirt from entering the valve stems. Otherwise, valve damage can occur.
1 kilopascal (kPa) is approximately equal to 0.01 bar (kg/cm2).Have your tire dealer inspect tires with deep cuts or gouges.Measure the tire pressure if a tire appears improperly inflated.Check the inflation pressure with the tires cold and at the same outside temperature in which the machine will operate. Use a Caterpillar 4S6524 or 1P0545 Tire Pressure Gauge or equivalent.When inflating tires in a heated area, make allowances in pressure for cold, outside temperatures. For normal operating conditions, inflate the tires to 138 kPa (20 psi). If more flotation is required, use a minimum of 82 kPa (12 psi).Transporting Tire Pressures
When transporting the machine, inflate the tires to 206 kPa (30 psi).
