Schematic of the Quick Coupler Solenoid circuit.The "Quick Coupler" Function provides the operator a quick method of changing attachments. The request for "Quick Coupler" LOCK or UNLOCK is selected from the Quick Coupler Menu option in the Monitor. The Machine ECM uses the "Quick Coupler" Solenoid to execute the request that is received from the Monitor.The ECM will energize the Quick Coupler Quick Coupler Solenoid to UNLOCK the Quick Coupler. The ECM will de-energize the Quick Coupler Quick Coupler Solenoid in order to LOCK the Quick Coupler.

When a Quick Coupler LOCK request is received from the Monitor on the CAN Data Link, the ECM will de-energize the Quick Coupler Solenoid. The Quick Coupler is now locked. As the system hydraulic pressure increases, a warning level 1 event will become active. The code remains active until the Main Pump Pressure Switch contacts close indicating to the ECM that the quick coupler is LOCKED. During this time, the Monitor will indicate that the Quick Coupler is closing. The contacts will close when the system pressure reaches 6000 kPa (870 psi). The Monitor will display a "QUICK COUPLER LOCKED" message.If the Main Pump Pressure Switch contacts open within 60 seconds after closing, an active warning Level 3 event is generated and logged. When this event occurs, the Monitor will display a "LOW QUICK COUPLER PRESSURE" message.During machine operation, the ECM will continue to monitor the status of Main Pump Pressure Switch. If no UNLOCK request is present and the switch contacts open after 60 seconds or more since a LOCK indication, a warning Level 2 event will be generated. The Monitor will display a "LOW QUICK COUPLER PRESSURE" message.When the ECM de-energizes the solenoid in order to release the hydraulic pressure in the Quick Coupler system, a warning Level 1 event will be generated until the Main Pump Pressure Switch contacts have opened. During this time, the Monitor will indicate that the Quick Coupler is opening. When the switch contacts open, the ECM will consider the attachment UNLOCKED. The Monitor will display a "QUICK COUPLER UNLOCK" message. The Main Pump Pressure Switch contacts will open when the pressure is less than 6000 kPa (870 psi).If the Main Pump Pressure Switch contacts are closed when no LOCK command has been received, a warning Level 3 event will be generated. The Monitor will display a "HIGH QUICK COUPLER PRESSURE" message.The Quick Coupler Function can be installed or uninstalled through the Cat ET configuration screen.
