Crankshaft Front And Rear Seal And Wear Sleeve
The crankshaft seal and wear sleeve must be installed together. 1. Install the crankshaft seal and wear sleeve with tooling (A) or (B) as follows: a) Clean and make a preparation of the wear sleeve inside diameter and crankshaft outside diameter with 8M8060 Quick Cure Primer. Make an application of 9S3265 Retaining Compound to crankshaft outside diameter before the wear sleeve is installed on the crankshaft.
FRONT SHOWNb) Install locator (2) and the bolts on the crankshaft.c) Put clean engine oil on the seal lip of seal (6) and on the outside diameter of wear sleeve (1). Install seal (6) on wear sleeve (1) as shown. Make sure the lip of the seal is toward the inside of the engine and the outside diameter bevel of the wear sleeve is toward the outside of the engine.d) Put wear sleeve (1) and seal (6) in position on locator (2).e) Install spacer (3) on the stud of locator (2).f) Put installer (5) in position on locator (2).g) Put clean engine oil on the face of nut (4) and its contact area on installer (5). Install nut (4) on locator (2).
FRONT SHOWNh) Tighten nut (4) until the inside surface of installer (5) comes in contact with spacer (3).i) Remove tooling (A) and check the wear sleeve and seal for the correct position after installation.2. For the front seal, the distance from the front face of the crankshaft to the front edge of the wear sleeve must be .06 in. (1.52 mm).3. For the rear seal, the distance from the face of the crankshaft to the edge of the wear sleeve must be .12 .02 in. (3.05 0.51 mm).end by:a) install vibration damper (for front seal)b) install flywheel (for rear seal)
