PRIORITY - PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR REPLACING THE SWING GEAR BEARING BOLTS AND SPACERS
MODELS INVOLVED - 315C Excavators
Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
New 112-3927 Bolts and 7Y-1863 Spacers between the swing gear bearing inner race and the lower frame need to be installed on the products listed below. The existing bolts may loosen possibly causing extensive damage to the swing gear bearing. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 26Dec2006 when scheduling this service.
We regret the inconvenience this may cause you, but urge you to have this service performed as soon as possible to prevent unscheduled downtime.

Rework Procedure
Note: Replace one bolt at a time. Do not remove all bolts at the same time.
1) Place the machine on flat level ground.
2) Remove one 6V3532 Bolt and one 171-9464 Spacer.

3) Replace with a 112-3927 Bolt and a 7Y1863 Spacer.

4) Tighten to 568+-59 Nm without applying any ?Loctite or antiseize compound?
on the bolt thread.
5) Repeat this process for all 30 bolts.
