Some parameters need to be configured for the machine to operate properly. The configuration screen for the ECM can be accessed by using the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET). The configuration screen for each ECM is accessed from the above ECM summary screen by selecting "Configuration" from the "Service" drop-down menu. The following explains some of the parameters:Maximum Forward Ground Speed - This parameter sets the maximum forward speed that is allowed by the transmission. The range is between 7 km/h (4 mph) and 10 km/h (6 mph). The default setting is 10 km/h (6 mph).Maximum Reverse Ground Speed - This parameter sets the maximum reverse speed that is allowed by the transmission. The range is between 7 km/h (4 mph) and 10 km/h (6 mph). The default setting is 10 km/h (6 mph).Default Gear Ratio - This parameter sets the desired startup gear ratio. The value represents the default forward gear once the key moves from the OFF position to the ON position.Parking Brake Lockout - This parameter overrides the parking brake solenoid. The solenoid is overridden in order to keep the parking brake applied. The machine functions as normal except that the parking brake is always applied. The transmission joystick must be in the NEUTRAL position and the parking brake switch must be applied in order to configure the parameter.Machine Accel/Decel Rate Setting - This parameter increases or decreases the acceleration response of the machine. A setting of high is an aggressive response. A setting of medium is the default. A setting of low is a less aggressive response.Steering Response Rate Steering - This parameter increases or decreases the response of the steering lever. A setting of high is an aggressive response. A setting of medium is the default. A setting of low is a less aggressive response.Steering Modulation Setting - This parameter increases or decreases the modulation of the steering. A setting of high is a fine modulation. A setting of medium is the default setting. A setting of low is a coarse modulation.Brake Pedal Deceleration Function - This parameter determines how the brake and deceleration pedal affects the machine operation. Enabled - The position of the pedal affects the braking of the transmission. The position also affects the desired engine speed.Disabled - The position of the pedal affects the braking of the transmission. The pedal does not affect the desired engine speed. The engine speed remains constant.Blade Control Response - This parameter changes the modulation response of the blade. A setting of "Fine" decreases the modulation in order to allow for smaller corrections of the blade. "Standard" is the default setting. A setting of "Fast" results in aggressive movement of the blade.Rear Attachment Installation - This parameter is used in order to change the configuration of the rear attachment.Not Installed - A rear attachment is not installed.Single Axis Ripper - Only the ripper is installed.Winch - Only the winch is installed.Winch with 4th Function - The winch is installed and the fourth valve
