Generally blowby is not considered excessive until it is at least two times the blowby rate of a new engine. The blowby rate should not be used by itself to determine whether or not to overhaul an engine; other indicators such as oil consumption should be considered.Blowby is not always the result of worn cylinders/ring; there are other possible causes of blowby.Some of these causes are mentioned below:1. If the engine is equipped with an air compressor, worn rings in the compressor could cause excessive blowby.2. FRC-diaphragms ruptured can leak boost pressure into the engine.3.
