Vibration Damper & Pulley
Start By:a. remove expansion tank 1. Remove damper guard (1), from the front of the engine. 2. Loosen the alternator adjustment and remove alternator belt (2). 3. Remove twelve nuts (3) and remove the pulley assembly (4).4. Move the damper out approximately 25.4 mm (1.00 in). Fasten a hoist to the damper. Remove the damper. The weight of the damper is approximately 36 kg (80 lb). 5. Remove bolts (5) and adapter (6). Remove studs (7) if a replacement is necessary.Install Vibration Damper & Pulley
1. If studs (2) were removed, install new studs. Tighten studs (2) to a torque of 54 7 N m (40 5 lb ft).2. Install adapter (1) and the bolts that hold it in position on the crankshaft. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 136 14 N m (100 10 lb ft).3. Use a hoist to put the damper in position on the adapter. The weight of the damper is approximately 36 kg (80 lb). 4. Install pulley (4). Install nuts (3) that hold the pulley and the damper on the adapter. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 136 14 N m (100 10 lb ft).5. Install the alternator belt and tighten the belt to the proper tension. See the topic "Belt Tension Chart" in Systems Operation, Testing & Adjusting Manual, SENR5517. 6.
