Component Code(s) 7057 7113SUBJECT: 155-4242 Hitch bearing failure
PROBLEM:
The bearing 155-4242 fails on the CB-214D, CB-224D, CB-225D utility compactors when the machines are used in heavy applications.
SOLUTION:
A permanent corrective action is being developed. Until the final solution is available, if a bearing breaks or becomes loose (noticeable with marks on the paint). Replace the two existing bearings 155-4242 with two 144-0274 bearings and put washers 7X0515 (2 per bearing) in place of the existing 9X8257 washer (1) between the bolt head and the bearing foot. Put the safety lock plate in position with the pin in before tightening the bolts to 240 Newton/meter.
