A new spring needs to be installed in the 7E6844 Seal Groups and in the seal groups used in various water pumps, and gaskets kits in parts stock. The new seal spring increases the contact pressure on the face seals to reduce the possibility of coolant leakage.

Remove the following seal groups, gasket kits, and water pumps from parts stock. Rework each by replacing the existing seal group spring with a new 1012971 Spring-Seal. Refer to the following lists and see the attached procedure.

These pumps already have the new seal spring. The Service Letter rework should be completed as soon as possible. Date codes from June through August are as follows: NLDM (June), NKDM (July), NODM (August).
Service Claim Allowances
Submit one claim for all springs that are replaced as follows:A maximum of 1 hour will be allowed for every 30 seals that are reworked.
A maximum of 1 hour will be allowed for every 30 seals that are removed from gasket kits and reworked.
A maximum of .3 hour will be allowed for every water pump that is reworked.
Parts Disposition
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.

Rework Procedure For 7E6844 Seal Groups (Individual And From Gasket Kits)
1. Remove the spring from the 7E6844 Seal Group and install a new 1012971 Spring (Yellow). Do NOT touch the face seals, the natural oil in your skin will damage the seal and cause coolant leakage.
2. Make sure that the round cardboard spacer is between the face seals when rewraping the seal group.3. Change the part number on the box to 1010700. This is the part number of the new seal group.Rework Procedure For Waterpumps
