Remove & Install Governor
Start By:a. remove fuel ratio control 1. Remove five bolts (1), cover (2) and gasket. 2. Remove bolt (3), collar (4) and spring (5). 3. On the other side of the pump group, remove plug (6) and install Tool (A). Make sure the flat end of Tool (A) is inserted in the pump group. Move governor bolt (7) until Tool (A) is in place and the racks are in center "zero" position. 4. Remove seven bolts (8), governor housing (9) and gasket. Check gasket for wear or damage. Replace if necessary. 5. Remove four bolts (10), governor plate (11) and the gasket. If necessary, hold the racks in the center "zero" position against Tool (A) with a screwdriver while the governor plate is removed. It is possible to remove the governor and governor plate as a unit. The above steps must be followed before the governor can be installed again on the pump housing. The following steps are for the installation of the governor. 6. Remove pin (12) and drive assembly (13). The drive assembly can be damaged if it is not installed with the governor plate and it is not in alignment with the drive pinion assembly. 7. Install Tool (A).8. Install new gasket. Install governor plate (11). Make sure the dowels in the governor plate are in alignment with the holes in the injection pump. 9. Install drive assembly (13) and pin (12). 10. Install four bolts (10).11. Install housing (9) and seven bolts (8).12. Install spring (5), collar (4) and bolt (3). 13. Start By:a. remove governor 1. Remove two bolts (1) and torque spring assembly (2).2. Remove high idle screw (3) and low idle screw (4). 3. Remove bolt (6) from control lever (7). Remove shaft (5) and control lever (7).4. Remove the lip-type seals and shaft bearings from housing (8). 5. Remove seat (9), spring washer and flat washer under seat (9).6. Remove spring (10). 7. Remove washer (11), ring (13), dowel (14) under ring (13), seat (12) and bolt (15). 8. Remove washer (16), spring (17), sleeve (18) and race, bearing and race from the bottom of sleeve (18). Remove seal (19) (not shown) from the top of the servo piston.9. Remove lock (20) and flyweight/gear assembly (21).10. Remove lock (22), gear assembly (23) and bearing. 11. Remove bolts, bracket (24) and pin (25).12. Remove shaft (26) from the bracket assembly with a hammer and a punch.13. Remove levers (28) and spring (27) from the bracket assembly.14. Remove servo piston assembly (23) through the bottom of the governor plate. 15. Remove sleeve (33) from cylinder (29). Remove piston and valve (31) from the cylinder. Remove O-ring (30) from sleeve (33). Remove O-ring (32) (not shown) from the cylinder. The following steps are for the assembly of the governor. 1.
