If the tooth contact looks like the marks in Illustration 17, perform the following procedure:
Add shims behind the pinion housing.
Repeat Steps 14 through 16 for the backlash adjustment.
Repeat Step 17 in order to check the overall rolling torque at the pinion shaft.Note: Always make sure that the backlash adjustment is correct before an adjustment is made to the area of tooth contact. Several adjustments to the backlash and to the tooth contact may be necessary in order to achieve the correct adjustments. A change to gear backlash will also change the gear contact and vice versa.
After the adjustments are made, remove rouge compound from the gears.
Install the axle housings. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Brake and Planetary - Assemble".

Apply Tooling (C) to bolts (16) and the washers.

Use bolts (14) in order to install baffle (15) . Tighten bolts (14) to a torque of 14 3 N m (124 26.5 lb in).

Clean the mating surfaces of the axle housing and trunnion (13) . Apply a continuous bead of Tooling (D) to the axle housing. Use bolts (12) and the washers in order to install trunnion (13) . Tighten bolts 12 to a torque of 120 20 N m (89 15 lb ft).

Note: Lubricate the seals and bearing with lubricant that is being used.
Install seal (10) and washer (11) .

Install bearing (9) in the rear trunnion support.

Use a suitable lifting device in order to raise oscillating axle housing (2) .
Carefully install oscillating axle housing (2) in the rear trunnion support. The weight of oscillating axle housing (2) is approximately 499 kg (1100 lb).
Install bolts (7) and (8) . Tighten bolts (7) and (8) to a torque of 100 20 N m (75 15 lb ft). Tighten bolts (7) and bolts (8) by an additional 120 5 degrees.

Install seal (5) and washer (6) .

Use bolts (3) and the washers in order to install plate (4) . Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 80 15 N m (60 10 lb ft). Tighten bolts (3) by an additional 60 5 degrees.

Connect tube assembly (1) .
Fill the oscillating axle housing with oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance, SEBU6868, "Refill Capacities"and Operation and Maintenance, SEBU6868, "Lubricant Viscosities"for the proper type and capacity.
Check the hydraulic oil level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance, SEBU6868, "Refill Capacities"and Operation and Maintenance, SEBU6868, "Lubricant Viscosities"for the proper type and capacity.End By:
Install the rear tires. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim - Remove and Install".
Install the hydrostatic drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly Supplement, "Hydrostatic Drive - Install".
