If necessary, install plug (6). Tighten plug (6) to a torque of 116 10 N m (85 7 lb ft).
Use Tooling (B) to install the lip type seal in the auxiliary water pump housing. Do not apply lubricant to the sealing lip.
Place thrust washer (8) onto shaft (5). Install shaft (5) into the auxiliary water pump housing. Install bolts (7).

Use Tooling (C) to install the ceramic ring from seal group (4) against the auxiliary water pump housing. Ensure that the face of the seal group makes light contact. Install the spring from seal group (4).
Illustration 3 g02402520Note: Ensure that the shaft is supported during installation of the impeller.
Apply a light coat of engine oil to the shaft prior to installation of impeller (3). Use a suitable press to install impeller (3) on the shaft. Install the impeller so the face of the impeller and the face of the shaft are 0 0.15 mm (0 0.006 inch).
Install the O-ring seal on cover (2). Apply a light coat of glycerin to the O-ring seal prior to installation. Install cover (2). Install nuts (1). Tighten nuts (1) to a torque of 27 4 N m (20 3 lb ft).
