Initial Start-Up
Measure the insulation resistance of each winding if the generator was exposed to the following conditions:
Rapid changes in temperature
Freezing
Wet climate during shipment
Wet climate during storageRefer to Testing and Adjusting, "Insulation - Test".Note: These tests should be conducted prior to any power connections or control connections that are being made.Starting
Make all preliminary engine starting checks.
Be sure that the main circuit breaker or the line circuit breaker is open.
Start the engine. Allow the engine to warm up.
Adjust to the full load engine speed.
Close the main circuit breaker.
Apply the load. Do not try to apply the full load. Apply the load in increments to maintain system frequency at a constant level.
Readjust the governor for rated frequency.Adjust the Voltage
Use the following procedure to adjust the voltage and frequency of the generator output.
From the "MAIN MENU", use the down navigation key (15) or the up navigation key (12) to navigate to the "CONTROL" menu.
Press the "OK" key (14) to select the "CONTROL" menu. "VOLT/HZ CONTROL" will be displayed.Note: The voltage can be adjusted from the EMCP 4 within the maximum bias limit defined by the setpoint (MAXIMUM GENERATOR VOLTAGE BIAS PERCENTAGE).
Press the "OK" key (14).
Press the up navigation key (12) to increase the voltage and press the down navigation key (15) to decrease the voltage.Note: When adjusting the voltage using the navigation keys, and offset (or bias) is applied to the setpoint value for "GENERATOR NOMINAL OUTPUT VOLTAGE." This offset is retained until battery power is cycled to the EMCP 4. Cycling the battery power to the EMCP 4 will remove the offset. Once the offset is removed, the transmitted value reverts to the set point value for "GENERATOR NOMINAL OUTPUT VOLTAGE."
