Fabricate two 338-7280 Plates from ASTM A572 or A656 grade 42 or 50 material.
Move the machine to a safe area. Lower the scraper bowl to the ground.
Chock the wheels in order to prevent the machine from moving. Lower the bail.

Remove two bolts (A) and two washers (B). Remove the pin for the front bail cylinder. Retract the bail cylinder.
Shut down the machine. Shut off the main disconnect switch.
Cut off retainer bracket (C) and save retainer bracket (C) .
Clean retainer bracket (C). Clean both sides of bracket (D) for the cylinder pin. This will prepare the area for welding.

Clamp one plate (1) and one retainer bracket (C) to bracket assembly (D). Plate (1) should be on the side with the chamfered edge against bracket assembly (D) .
Clamp one plate (1) to bracket assembly (D). Plate (1) should be clamped on the side with the chamfered edge against bracket assembly (D) .Note: Use pin 338-7264 Pin As to align four pin holes and the retainer bracket.
Weld two plates (1) and one retainer bracket (A) in place.Use a grinder in order to clean the weld areas. Completely remove all paint, rust, scale, slag, dirt, moisture, tape, etc before welding.Note: Before welding, preheat the welding areas to the proper temperature. Use 164-3310 Infrared Thermometer in order to check for the proper preheat temperature.

Clean the welded area and paint the welded area.
Reassemble the bail cylinder to the bail. Install two bolts (A) and two washers (B) that were removed in Step 4.
Return the machine to service.
