(4) LOWER position The hoist control is located to the left of the operator's seat. The hoist control has four positions: RAISE (1), HOLD (2), FLOAT (3) and LOWER (4). The machine should normally be operated with the hoist control in the FLOAT position. Traveling with the hoist lever in the FLOAT position will ensure that the weight of the truck body is properly located on the truck frame and the body pads. Otherwise, the truck body may be located on the hoist cylinders.The hoist control is connected to the hoist control position sensor. The hoist control position sensor sends electrical signals to the Chassis Electronic Control Module (Chassis ECM). See the hydraulic system System Operation, "Position Sensor (Hoist Control)" for additional information.When the hoist control is released, a spring will move the hoist control from the RAISE position to the HOLD position. The spring will also move the hoist control from the LOWER position to the FLOAT position.If the transmission control is placed in the REVERSE position and the dump body is being raised, the position sensor for the hoist control is used to shift the transmission to the NEUTRAL position. The transmission will remain in the NEUTRAL position until the following steps are taken.
The hoist control is moved to the HOLD position or to the FLOAT position.
The transmission control has been moved into the NEUTRAL position and the transmission control has been moved out of the NEUTRAL position. If the truck is started with the dump body in the RAISED position and the hoist control is in the FLOAT position, the dump body will not lower. The following steps must be taken in order to lower the dump body.
The hoist control must be moved to the HOLD position.
Then, the hoist control must be moved to the FLOAT position.
