CYLINDER GP-ARTICULATION 1846804 - Caterpillar

1. Remove speed reducer drain plug (4).2. Disconnect oil drain back line (1).3. Disconnect oil lines (3).4. Fasten a hoist to hydraulic drive motor (5) and remove bolts (2).5. Remove hydraulic drive motor (5) and O-ring seal (6). Weight of hydraulic drive motor is 80 lb. (36.3 kg).6. Install O-ring seal (6) hydraulic drive motor (5), bolts (2), oil lines (3) and oil drain back line (1).7. Tighten speed reducer drain plug (4).Disassemble Hydraulic Drive Motor
1. Remove bolts from end cover.2. Remove end cover (1) and cartridge (2) from body (3).3. Loosen bolts (8) to remove cam ring (6) from port plates (4) and (15). Do not let rotor (7) slide out of cam ring because vanes and springs will come out of rotor.4. Move rotor (7) and vanes about halfway out of ring and put a piston ring compressor around rotor and vanes.5. Remove rotor and vanes. Remove piston ring compressor and remove vanes (14) and springs (13) from rotor.6. Remove back-up rings (10) and (11).7. Remove O-ring seals (9) and (12).8. Remove O-ring seal (17) from body (3).9. Remove snap ring (16) and shaft (18).10. Remove snap ring (19) and remove bearing (20) from shaft (18).11. Remove washer (23), seal (22) and wiper (21) from body (3).12. Remove flange (24) and O-ring seal under the flange.13. Remove the flange and the O-ring seal under the flange from end cover (1).Assemble Hydraulic Drive Motor
Put clean oil on each part before assembling the hydraulic drive motor.1. Install wiper (2), oil seal (3) and washer (4) in body (1). Install the oil seal with lip of seal toward washer.2. Install O-ring seal between body (1) and flange (5) and install flange.3. Heat bearing (7) in oil to 275°F (135°C) and install on shaft.4. Install snap ring (6) on shaft.5. Install shaft in body and install snap ring.6. Install O-ring seal (8).7. Put springs (18) in vanes (19) and assemble vanes and springs into rotor (12).8. Hold the parts together as a unit with a piston ring compressor.9. Install the unit into cam ring (11). Carefully remove piston ring compressor as unit is installed.10. Assemble port plate (9) cam ring (11) and port plate (20). As cartridge is assembled, be sure dowels (10) are in alignment with holes in cam ring (11) and port plate (20).11. Install bolts (13), (two bolts).12. Install O-ring seals (17) and (14) and backup rings (16) and (15).13. Install cartridge assembly (22) in end cover (21). As cartridge is installed, check to see that dowels (24) go into holes (23).14. Assemble cover (21) and cartridge assembly to body (25).15. Install bolts (26). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 55 5 lb.ft. (7.60 0.68 mkg).
