BACKHOE LOADER, VIBRATORY COMPACTOR,
Compatible equipment models: 1853192:
Information:
(1) Torque for two bolts ... 115 7 N m (85 5 lb ft)Adjustment Procedure:
1. Install 1.23 mm (.048 in) thick shim pack (4) between case (3) and cage (5).2. Install 1.23 mm (.048 in) thick shim pack (8) between case (3) and cage (9).3. Use 8S2328 Dial Indicator to check free movement (backlash) between pinion (2) and gear (7). Check in at least three equally spaced places around gear (7). Backlash should be 0.15 to 0.33 mm (.006 to.013 in)4. If an increase in backlash is needed, add to shims (8). If a decrease is needed, remove from shims (8). Recheck and adjust until correct.
Illustration A5. After the backlash adjustment have been made, the tooth contact between pinion (2) and gear (7) must then be checked. Perform the procedure that follows: a. Put a small amount of Prussian blue, red led or paint on the teeth of gear (7).b. Turn pinion (2) in both directions.c. The correct area of tooth contact on gear (7) is: Height - contact should be centered between the top (tip) of the tooth and the bottom (start of the fillet near the root).Length - contact should start near the small (toe) end of the gear and extend about 50% of the length of the tooth.See Illustration A for an example of the correct area of tooth contact.d. This pattern is particularly important on the forward sides of the teeth. When viewed from cover (6) end, gear (7) is driven clockwise in forward.6. If the contact pattern (marks) made on gear (7) are too low, remove some shims (4). Then remove an equal thickness of shims (8). This will raise contact pattern marks while holding proper backlash. Do Step 5 again to check the area of tooth contact until correct.7. If the marks made on gear (7) are too high, add some shims (4). Then add an equal thickness of shims (8). This will lower contact pattern marks while holding proper backlash. Do Step 5 again to check the area of tooth contact until correct.8. After proper contact pattern is achieved, do Step 3 to recheck backlash.
