(1) Cat Electronic Technician (ET) and Software CD, NETG5057 are required when using the communication adapter.Test Preparation
Note: All tests and adjustments must be made while the transmission oil is at normal operating temperature 71° to 94°C (160° to 201°F).
Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move away from any machines that are working and any personnel.
Move the transmission control to the P position. Fully raise the dump body of the truck.
Install the retaining pin for the dump body.
Stop the engine.
Permit only one operator on the machine. Either keep other personnel away from the machine, or keep other personnel in the sight of the operator.
Place blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.Test Procedure

Start Cat® ET. Choose "Transmission 785G" from the list, and click "OK".

From the toolbar, select "Service" then "Calibrations".

Select the "Transmission Clutch Engagement Pressure Calibration" and click "Start" in the bottom left corner of the screen.

Select all the boxes for the "Trans Clutches" and click "Begin".
Illustration 8 g06231582Note: Connect a gauge to the first valve to be calibrated. Click the "Next" button after the gauge is connected.
Illustration 9 g06231585Note: During the "Engagement Calibration", a number that corresponds to the electrical current of the particular transmission solenoid valve is displayed. The electrical current of the transmission solenoid valve controls the lockup clutch engagement pressure.

View tooling (A) to view the lockup clutch engagement pressure. The target pressure is controlled through the Cat® ET screen. Adjust the current by using the increment and decrement buttons to select the target value. Observe the change in the value that is displayed on tooling (A) until the target value is achieved.
After the correct pressure is reached, click "Next".

The window that pops up should show a "CALIBRATION SUCCESSFUL" message.
Click "Continue" to proceed onto the next clutch. Continue until all the clutches have been calibrated.
After the last clutch has been calibrated, click "Finish" to complete the calibration.
Turn off the machine and remove all test equipment.Note: If the calibration results in failure, refer to the section within this manual called "Transmission Fill - Calibrate" to troubleshoot the transmission clutches.
