Schematic of the action alarmTest Step 1. CHECK THE MONITOR FOR POWER.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the ON position.
Disconnect the 12 pin connector from the monitor.
At the 12 pin connector, measure the voltage. Measure the voltage from contact 1 (123-WH) to the frame ground.Expected Result:The voltage that is measured is approximately battery voltage.Results:
OK - The voltage that is measured is approximately battery voltage. Proceed to test step 2.
NOT OK - The voltage that is measured is NOT approximately battery voltage.Repair: Check the fuse for the monitor.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE HARNESS FOR A SHORT TO THE +BATTERY CIRCUIT.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the J1 and J2 machine harness connectors from the ECM.
Disconnect the machine harness from the monitor.
At machine harness connector J1 and J2, measure the resistance. Measure the resistance from the signal contact J2-34 (wire J847-GN) to all possible sources of the +battery circuit. The possible sources of positive voltage are connector contacts: J1-1, J1-2, J1-4, J1-8, J1-11, J1-13, J1-14, J1-16, J1-17, J1-24, J1-25, J1-26, J2-1, J2-23, J2-44, J2-51, J2-55, J2-60, J2-61, J2-62, J2-63, J2-64, J2-65 and J2-68. Expected Result:The resistance should be greater than 5000 ohms for each measurement. Results:
OK - The resistance is greater than 5000 ohms for each measurement. The machine harness is correct. The monitor has failed.Repair: Replace the monitor.STOP
NOT OK - The resistance is NOT correct. There is a short in the machine harness. The short is between signal contact J2-34 (wire J847-GN) and the circuit with the low resistance measurement.Repair: Repair the harness or replace the harness.STOP
