Illustrations 1 and 2 show the locations of the new parts.
Illustration 1. Front view of 8Z7424 Grapple Control Group facing operator's station.
Illustration 2. Section A-A at 9Z8281 Lever As.Procedure To Adjust The Grapple Tong Linkage
1. Center the 9J5846 Roller in the slot in the 9Z8282 Lever Assembly and tighten the 5S9607 Locknut as shown in Illustration 3.
Illustration 3. Section B-B at 9Z8282 Lever As.2. Position the formed lever arm of the 9Z8281 Lever Assembly in a horizontal position. See Illustration 4.
Illustration 4. Partial view of detent, 9Z8281 Lever As. area.3. Adjust the 1F5403 Rod End on the 6J3333 Rod so the distance between the centers equals the distance between the centers of the formed arm of 9Z8281 Lever Assembly and the stem of the grapple tong control valve. Install the rod and rod end. See Illustration 1.4. Put the 9Z8138 Lever for the grapple hand control in an upright position. See Illustration 1.5. Adjust the 5P5379 and 6V1033 Rod Ends on the 8G4658 Rod so the distance between the centers equals the distance between the center of the longer straight arm of the 9Z8281 Lever Assembly and the 8Z7522 Lever Assembly, a part of the grapple hand control. Install the rod and rod ends. See Illustration 1.6. Pull the grapple hand control lever toward the operator. If (1) the spool in the valve is shifted in its "max up" position, (2) the roller is in the detent, and (3) there is no additional control lever movement towards the operator; the linkage is adjusted correctly. See Illustration 4 in the closed position. If this condition does not exist, go to Step 7 or 8.7. If the spool in the valve is shifted in its "max up" position and the 9J5846 Roller is not in the detent, loosen the 5B9079 Nut on the roller and slide the roller away from the spring until it goes into the detent. Tighten the nut. See Illustration 4 to position the roller in the closed position.8. If the spool in the valve is shifted in its "max up" position and the 9J5846 Roller is beyond the detent, loosen the 5B9079 Nut on the roller and slide the roller towards the spring until it goes into the detent. Tighten the nut. See Illustration 4.
