CYLINDER HEAD GP 20R3540 - Caterpillar

1. With the stick fully extended and the bucket open, lower the boom on to tooling (A). Lower the bucket to the ground. Stop the engine. 2. To release the oil pressure in the stick cylinder circuit, slowly open screw (1) 1/2 turn until the oil pressure is released. Tighten the screw. Slowly open screw (2) 1/2 turn until the oil pressure is released. Tighten the screw.
Do not disconnect any oil lines from the stick cylinder until all oil pressure in the stick cylinder circuit has been released.
3. Disconnect oil lines (3) and (4) from the cylinder. 4. Fasten a hoist to the cylinder (5).5. Remove the bolts, bar, and spacer from the rod end pin. Remove the rod end pin.6. Remove the bolts, bar, and spacer from the head end pin. Remove the head end pin. Remove the cylinder. The weight of the cylinder is 800 lb. (363 kg).Install Stick Cylinder
1. Fasten a hoist to the cylinder. Put the cylinder in position and install head end pin (1).2. Install the bar, spacer, and bolts that hold the pin in place. 3. Lower the cylinder until the bores in the stick and rod are in alignment. Install pin (2).4. Install the bar, spacer, and bolts that hold the pin in place. 5. Connect oil lines (3) and (4) to the cylinder. 6. Raise the boom and remove tooling (A) from under the boom.
