Safety Precautions
This service procedure requires the valve cover to be removed. This will expose the service technician to to moving parts which may case pinch or entanglement hazards. The hazards could result in personal injury or death. Keep all body parts, loose clothing, hair, and other items which could become entangled away from the moving parts.
Be sure the engine cannot be started while this maintenance is being performed. To prevent possible injury, do not use the starting motor to turn the flywheel.Hot engine components can cause burns. Allow additional time for the engine to cool before measuring/adjusting the unit injectors. The electronic unit injectors use high voltage. Disconnect the unit injector enable circuit connector in order to prevent personal injury. Do not come in contact with the injector terminals while the engine is running.

Locknut (3) 55 10 N m (41 7 lb ft) Introduction
This procedure is used to adjust the mechanical electronic unit injectorsRequired Tools
Typical Hand toolsTest Preparation
Remove the pertinent covers to expose the electronic unit injectors.Test Procedures
Put the No. 1 piston at the top center position on the compression stroke. Refer to Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, "Finding Top Center Position for No. 1 Piston".
Cylinders 3, 5, and 6 can be adjusted with cylinder 1 at Top Center compression stroke.
Loosen the locknut (3).
Turn the adjustment screw (2) until the screw contacts the mechanical electronic unit injector.
Tighten the adjustment screw to an additional two turns.
Turn the adjustment screw counterclockwise for 2.5 turns.
Turn the adjustment screw until the screw contacts the mechanical electronic unit injector.
Turn the adjustment screw through 180 degrees in a clockwise direction.
With the adjustment screw in this position, tighten the locknut to a torque of 55 10 N m (41 7 lb ft).
Rotate the engine in the normal operating direction by 360 degrees. Cylinder 1 will now be on Top Center exhaust stroke.
Cylinder 1, 2, and 4 can be adjusted with cylinder 1 at Top Center exhaust stroke.
Loosen the locknut.
Turn the adjustment screw until the screw contacts the mechanical electronic unit injector.
Turn the adjustment screw to an additional two turns.
Turn the adjustment screw counterclockwise for 2.5 turns.
