In order to activate the ORS, the following conditions must be met:
The fuel rate setting is greater than 10 mm (0.40 inch).
The engine speed is between 1100 and 1850 rpm.
The jacket water coolant temperature must be 63 to 107 °C (145 to 225 °F).
The oil filter differential pressure must be less than 69 kPa (10 psi).
The engine has been running for five minutes.
The engine oil is above the low level switch.
The machine's fuel tank level is above ten percent capacity.
After the calculation has been completed, the ECM delays powering the metering valve for five minutes. When the ORS is activated, the time for activation of the oil metering valve is determined by the ECM. The time of the activation is based on the actual load factor or the fuel that is consumed by the engine.Normal Operating Parameters ( C32 Engines)
In order to activate the ORS, the following conditions must be met:

Disconnect the hose for the metered oil from the appropriate fuel system component. Place the hose into a graduated cylinder in order to collect any oil that will be discharged from the system during the test. Cap the fitting at the fuel system component before you begin the test.
Start the engine. Allow the engine to run at low engine idle.
Use Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to activate the override function for the ORS. This will power the valve and this will allow oil to pass through the system.
If oil does not pass through the valve, check the following items:
Engine oil level
Fuel level of machine
Engine oil filters
Oil lines for plugging
