New 360-5603 Lip Type Seal (1) replaces the former 276-4391 Lip Type Seal in the fan clutch group.New 365-3418 Wear Sleeve Seal (2) replaces the former 276-4392 Sleeve in the fan clutch group.New 365-3419 Wear Sleeve Seal (3) replaces the former 283-9457 Sleeve in the fan clutch group.

Oil supply lines for 973D machines
Note: For all 973D machines, replace the 290-5606 Tube As with 454-5314 Hose As (4) only after failure. Use 366-4688 Adapter As (5), and 148-8367 Elbow As (6) for installation of hose assembly (4) .Flash new 470-7361 Engine Software to update the hydraulic circuit of 973C and 973D machines.

Oil supply lines for 973C and D6T machinesFor the D6T remove 148-8378 Elbow As and 7w-7381 Outlet Fitting, which connects the oil supply to the fan clutch. The two parts removed should be replaced by the new 148-8367 Elbow As and 366-4687 Adapter (7). Refer to Illustration 3.Install new 366-4687 Adapter (7) with 214-7568 O-Ring Seal (8), and 228-7089 O-Ring Seal (9) in the oil supply lines for 973C machines. Refer to Illustration 3.Flash new 447-0871 Engine Software to update the hydraulic circuit of D6T machines.Go to SIS Web to make sure that the new Flash File part number is still the latest Flash File part number. A newer Flash File part number may be available. SIS Web only displays the latest available flash file. The new software is available in the form of a flash file through Caterpillar Service Information System (SIS). Note: Use the latest version of Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) for the optimal machine software support and use "WinFlash" to flash the Module with either 447-0871 Engine Software for D6T or 470-7361 Engine Software for 973C or 973D.The improved sealing system for the cooling fan clutch group is adaptable to machines and effective in production with machines that are listed in Table 2.
