Information:

This machine is equipped with a 1000 rpm, 20 spline, 45 mm (1.75 in) diameter shaft.Engaging the Power Takeoff
Engaged - Move the lever to position (1) to engage the power takeoff. The power takeoff now operates. If equipped with a Machine Performance Panel (MPP), a reading of PTO speed may be displayed. Otherwise, the standard PTO speed (1000 rpm) is shown on the tachometer/speedometer (2050 rpm).Disengaging the Power Takeoff
Disengaged - Move the lever to position (2) to disengage and stop the power takeoff.Attaching PTO Implements
To avoid personal injury due to entanglement with rotating shaft, keep PTO master cover and all power drive system covers in place. Install PTO shaft guard when the system is not in use.
When operating PTO driven implements, center and lock the drawbar to avoid possible machine and/or implement damage. Attach implement to the machine before connecting the PTO.
On uneven terrain, the PTO shaft may interfere with the drawbar pin, the drawbar pin keeper, or the top plate of the drawbar. Use care to avoid contact. Damage to the PTO shaft shield or PTO shaft may result. 1. Couple the implement to the machine. Refer the Three-Point Hitch or Drawbar topics for information on attaching equipment to the machine. On drawbar-mounted implements, make sure that the drawbar swing stops are set to prevent swing.2. With the engine stopped, all implements lowered, and the PTO stopped remove two bolts (1) and PTO output shaft cover assembly (2). Store the cover assembly for use later.3. Attach the implement driveshaft to the machine's PTO shaft. Make sure that the yoke is properly positioned and firmly locked.4. Check that the PTO driveline cannot become overextended, bottomed-out, or reach an excessive angle during operation. A PTO driveshaft is considered overextended when it is within 152 mm (6 in) of becoming uncoupled. A bottomed-out condition exists when the driveshaft is within 25 mm (1 in) of its collapsed length.Refer to the implement manufacturer's recommendations for correct driveshaft installed length and angle of operation. After detaching PTO-driven implements, reinstall the PTO output shaft cover assembly, removed in Step 2.Operation of PTO in Agricultural Applications
The PTO is designed to take full engine power once the PTO is engaged. With sustained operation in a stationary application under full engine power, external cooling of the PTO case may be needed. The proper engagement technique is important to obtain maximum life from the clutch pack.Following are some suggestions to maximize clutch life and minimize wear:1. Avoid frequent engagement/disengagement of PTO clutch.2. When starting with high inertial loads, engage the clutch at a low engine speed (rpm). Once the clutch is engaged, increase the engine speed (rpm) to the rated speed.3. If at all possible, do not start the PTO under a load.
