Transmission Control (3) Transmission Control Lever.The torque converter drives the transmission through the input transfer gear. The transmission drives the output transfer gear.Transmission (2) provides a speed and direction for the machine through a series of planetary gears and clutches. The operator selects a speed and a direction with transmission control lever (3) that is connected to hydraulic controls (1) with a cable. The transmission has three speeds in both the forward and reverse directions.If the engine is started with the directional lever in either the FORWARD or in the REVERSE positions, the machine cannot be moved. The control lever must be moved into the NEUTRAL position before the machine can be moved.The cable from lever (3) is connected to transmission hydraulic controls (1) . Controls (1) are located on the top of the transmission. The position of the control lever in the cab determines the path that the oil follows. The oil is directed to the clutches for direction and the clutches for speed which are located in the transmission. The hydraulic controls are also used to neutralize the transmission when the left brake pedal is applied. The hydraulic controls are also used to provide a pressure relief for the torque converter. The hydraulic controls are also used to regulate the pressure to the clutches in the transmission.
