start by:a) remove bucket 1. Use machine hydraulics to lift the lift arms to a height of approximately 60 in. (152.4 cm). Put tooling (A) in position under the lift arms as shown. Put the weight of the lift arms on tooling (A). 2. Remove sheets (2) and (3) and sheet assembly (1) from the front frame. 3. Remove the bolt and nut that holds pin (4) in the lift arm. 4. Remove pin (4) from the lift arm and lift cylinder. If necessary, use tooling (B) to remove pin (4).
Release the pressure from the hydraulic system before any lines are disconnected.
5. Disconnect hose assemblies (6) and (7) from the tube assemblies.6. Remove tube assemblies (5) and (8) from the lift cylinder. 7. Disconnect grease lines (9) and (11) from the retainer assemblies and pull them clear of the lift cylinder.8. Remove bars (12) and two grease fittings (10) from the retainer assemblies. 9. Fasten a hoist to the lift cylinder. Use tooling (C) to remove retainer assemblies (13) from the front frame. 10. Remove lift cylinder (14) from the machine. The weight of the lift cylinder is 345 lb. (155 kg). 11. Use tooling (D) to remove seals (15) and bearings (16) from the retainer assemblies. 12. Remove lip seals (17) from each side of the rod assembly.13. Use tooling (E) to remove bearing (18) from the rod assembly. See SPECIAL INSTRUCTION Form No. GMG00806 for the correct use of the pulling adapter in tooling (E).Install Lift Cylinders
1. Use tooling (A) to install the bearing in the rod assembly. Install the bearing to a depth of .375 .010 in. (9.53 0.25 mm) below the surface of the rod assembly. See Form No. GMG00806 for the correct use of the pulling adapter in tooling (A). 2. Use tooling (B) to install the lip seal on each side of the rod assembly. Install the seal with the lip away from the bearing. Put 5P960 Multipurpose Type Grease on the lip of the seal and in the bore of the bearing. 3. Lower the temperature of the bearings. Install bearings (1) with a press into the retainers to a depth of .375 .010 in. (9.53 0.25 mm) below the surface of the retainer.4. Use tooling (B) to install the lip seal in the retainers. Install the seal with the lip away from the bearing. Put 5P960 Multipurpose Type Grease on the lip of the seals and the bore of the bearings. 5. Fasten a hoist to the lift cylinder. Put lift cylinder (2) in position in the front frame. 6. Install retainer assemblies (3) in the frame and on the lift cylinder. 7. Install two grease fittings (5) and bars (7) on the retainer assemblies.8. Connect grease lines (4) and (6) to the retainer assemblies. 9. Install tube assemblies (8) and (11) on the lift cylinder.10. Connect hose assemblies (9) and (10) to the tube assemblies. 11. Put the bore of lift cylinder (2) in alignment
