Removal Procedure
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the hydraulic fluid from the hydraulic tank. The capacity of the hydraulic tank is approximately 36 L (9.5 US gal).
Open the access panel on the right side of the machine.
Put identification marks on all tube assemblies, on all hose assemblies, and on all wires for installation purposes. Plug all tube assemblies and all hose assemblies. This helps prevent contamination of the system.

Disconnect four control linkages (1) from the spools (2) on the bank valve.

Start at the closest hydraulic hose assembly (3) on the upper row. Disconnect the hydraulic hose assembly from the adapter and then remove adapter (4) from the bank valve.Note: The lower row of hydraulic hose assemblies can not be loosened with the adapters in the upper row.
Remove the remaining hydraulic hose assemblies and the adapters from the upper row on the bank valve.

Note: The adapters on the lower row do not need to be removed.
After the upper row of hydraulic hose assemblies and the adapters have been removed, then begin at the closest hydraulic hose assembly (5) on the lower row.
Remove the lower row of hydraulic hose assemblies from the bank valve.

Remove hydraulic hose assembly (6) for the test port from the rear of the bank valve.

Remove hydraulic hose assembly (7) on the rear of the bank valve.

Note: The bracket will be removed with the bank valve.
Remove four bolts (8) and the washers and remove bank valve (9) from the machine. The bank valve weighs approximately 27 kg (60 lb).
