The new intermediate starting arrangement and cold weather starting arrangement will improve starting capabilities in sub freezing temperatures.The new 384-9430 Intermediate Weather Starting Ar uses hydraulic bypasses to improve starting ability at temperatures below 0 °C (32 °F).The new 382-2789 Cold Weather Starting Ar uses hydraulic bypasses and adds a centrifugal clutch to improve starting ability at temperatures below −18 °C (−0 °F).For a complete list of parts and the procedure to install 384-9430 Intermediate Weather Starting Ar and 382-2789 Cold Weather Starting Ar, refer to Special Instruction, REHS4274, "Procedure to Update Certain Wheel Tractor-Scrapers with a New Intermediate Starting Arrangement and a New Cold Starting Arrangement".The Special Instruction can be found on the Caterpillar Service Information System (SIS) and through the normal literature distribution system at your local Cat dealer.The new 384-9430 Intermediate Weather Starting Ar and 382-2789 Cold Weather Starting Ar are adaptable to the machines that are listed above.
