CYLINDER HEAD GP 2869554 - Caterpillar

At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure.Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.Before installation or removal of any hydraulic test equipment, relieve the pressure in the hydraulic tank by slowly loosening the filler cap.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Purging the Steering Control Valve

Steering Control Valve (1) Purge screw (2) Purge screw
Start the engine and operate the engine at low idle. Loosen purge screw (1) on the right end of the steering control valve. When no air is present in the oil flow, tighten purge screw (1) . Refer to Specifications, "Steering Control Valve" for the appropriate torque.
Loosen purge screw (2) on the left end of the steering control valve. When no air is present in the oil flow, tighten purge screw (2) . Refer to Specifications, "Steering Control Valve" for the appropriate torque.
Stop the machine and shut off the engine.Purging the Servo Cylinder

Start the engine and operate the engine at low idle. Loosen purge screw (4) on the left turn end on servo cylinder (5) . Loosen purge screw (3) on the right turn end of the servo cylinder. When no air is present in the oil flow, tighten purge screws (3) and (4) to 20 3 N m (15 2 lb ft).

Left Steering Stops in Contact Position
Loosen purge screw (4) on the opposite end of servo cylinder (5) . Turn the machine toward the left until the left turn stops hit. Continue steering to the left for 5 to 7 revolutions of the steering wheel. When no air is present in the oil flow, tighten purge screw (4) .

Right Steering Stops in Contact Position
Loosen purge screw (3) on the right turn end of servo cylinder (5) . Turn the machine toward the right until the right turn stops hit. Continue steering to the right for 5 to 7 revolutions of the steering wheel. When no air is present in the oil flow, tighten purge screw (3) .Note: The steering should be solid. Repeat the purging procedure if the steering is still spongy.
Stop the machine and shut off the engine.Purging the Steering Cylinders

Start the engine and operate the engine at low idle. Turn the machine toward the left until the left turn stops hit. Loosen purge screw (6) on each steering cylinder. There are a total of two steering cylinders. Continue steering
