Horizontal Fairlead Roller (1) New roller shaft (2) Retainer bolt (3) Washer (4) Grease fitting (5) Capscrew (6) Spring washer (7) Spacer washer (8) Former roller shaft (9) Bracket
Install grease fittings (4) on both ends of new roller shaft (1) .
Support the horizontal roller with a suitable lifting device. The roller weighs 32 kg (72 lb).
Remove capscrew (5) and spring washer (6) that secures the horizontal roller shaft to the left wall of the winch case.
From the right side of the winch, carefully remove roller shaft (8) and spacers (7) .
Hold the roller in position while you install new roller shaft (1) and spacers (7). Install the roller shaft from the right side of the winch.
Hold roller shaft bracket (9) in position and use a center punch to mark the hole location for retaining bolt (2) on the right wall of the winch case.Note: The center punch mark should be 46.05 mm (1.813 inch) from the centerline of the roller shaft.
Rotate the roller shaft so that the center punch mark can be drilled. Use a 7.94 mm (0.3125 inch) bit to drill a pilot hole to a depth of 25 mm (1 inch). Tap the pilot hole with a 3/8-16 UNC tap to a depth of 17 mm (0.70 inch).
Align bracket (9) with tapped hole. Install bolt (2) and washer (3) .
Lubricate the shaft with 9X-6488 General Purpose Lithium Grease until grease appears around spacers (7) at both ends of the roller.
