Remove & Install Fuel Filter & Fuel Filter Base
FLUID SPILLAGE CONTAINMENTCare must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "TOOLS AND SHOP PRODUCT GUIDE, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.1. Turn the fuel supply valve to the "OFF" position. 2. Use Tool (A) to remove two fuel filters (1). Upon installation, lubricate the seal of fuel filters (1) with clean engine oil. Use Tool (A) to install fuel filters (1). Tighten fuel filters (1) 3/4 to 1 turn after contact with the filter base.3. Disconnect two fuel lines (2). Cap and plug all openings immediately. 4. Remove three bolts and washers (3).5. Remove fuel filter base (4). For installation of the fuel filter and fuel filter base, reverse the removal steps.6. Turn the fuel supply valve to the "ON" position.
