(1) Torque for nuts ... 125 11 lb. ft.(170 15 N m) Torque for studs ... 75 10 lb. ft.(100 14 N m)(2) Torque for nuts ... 100 11 lb. ft.(135 15 N m)(3) Torque for bolts ... 100 11 lb. ft.(135 15 N m)(4) Apply 5P960 Multipurpose Type Grease on these surfaces.(5) Install retainer with part number toward sprocket. Bearing Adjustment:Tools Needed: 9S9112 Spanner Wrench The procedure that follows must be used to put the correct amount of preload on the bearings for the final drive: 1. Tighten nut (7) to a torque of 125 lb. ft. (170 N m) with spanner wrench.2. Turn sprocket (6) to put the bearings in their seats.3. Hit the hub of sprocket with a large punch and a hammer.4. Repeat Steps 1, 2 and 3 until nut (7) does not turn when it is tightened.5. Loosen nut (7).6. Tighten nut (7) to a torque of 75 lb. ft. (100 N m)7. If nut (7) is in a locking position, install the axle, retainer (8) and bolts.8. If nut (7) is not in a locking position, tighten the nut to the next nearest locking position. Install the axle, retainer (8) and the bolts.
