Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the oil filter (torque converter charging). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Oil filter (Torque Converter Charging) - Remove". Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Loosen the bolt on the filter in order to remove housing assembly (2) from filter cover (1).

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Remove spring pin (5) from bolt (6).
Remove screen assembly (4) and the filter element assemblies from filter cover (1).
Remove O-ring seal (3) from filter cover (1).

Positionbolt (6) into a suitable bench vise. Use the bench vise to hold spring (7) and spring (10) in compression as spring pin (5) is removed.
Remove spring pin (5) from bolt (6).
Remove the following items from bolt (6): retainer (11), spring (10), valve (9), valve seat (8) and spring (7).
Remove bolt (6), the O-ring seal and hard washer (12), and filter cover (1).
