Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the cab. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cab - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury can result from hot oil or hot components.At operating temperature, oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns.Remove the fill cap only when the engine is stopped, and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Note: Put identification marks on the hose assemblies and the tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug the hose assemblies and the tube assemblies. This will help to prevent fluid loss and this will help to prevent contaminants from entering the system.

Disconnect tube assemblies (1), (2), and (3) from the pumps.

Disconnect hoses (4) and (5) from brake pump (11).
Disconnect hoses (6) and (7) from transmission oil pump (12).
Disconnect hoses (8), (9), (10), and (13) from steering pump (14).

Fasten a suitable lifting strap and a hoist to the pumps, as shown. Remove bolt (16), bolts (15) and the washers that hold the pumps. Remove the pumps from the transmission. The combined weight of the steering pump, the transmission oil pump, and the brake pump is 73 kg (160 lb).

Remove bolts (17) that hold transmission oil pump (12) and brake pump (11) to steering pump (14). Remove the coupling that joins the steering pump to the transmission oil pump. The weight of the steering pump is 50 kg (110 lb). The combined weight of the transmission oil pump and the brake pump is 23 kg (50 lb).
