Remove the radiator guard and support. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Radiator Guard and Support, Aftercooler, and Radiator - Remove".
Remove the rear chassis support. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankcase Guard - Remove".
Remove the drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft - Remove and Install". Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Disconnect harness assemblies (1). Remove bolt (2).

Remove guard (3).

Disconnect hose assembly (4).

Remove bolt (5) and washer (8). Remove bolt (6) and washer (9). Remove bolt (7).

Disconnect hose (10). Disconnect hose assembly (11). Loosen clamp (12). Disconnect hose (13).

Attach Tooling (A) to transmission (14). Install Tooling (B). Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (A). The weight of transmission (14) is approximately 1043 kg (2300 lb).
Remove mount assembly (16) on both sides of the machine.
Remove bolts (15).
