PROBLEM
The hydraulic fan motor may leak on certain 236B and 252B Skid Steer Loaders. The mating flange may have been machined incorrectly, which causes the leak.

ACTION REQUIRED
1. Open the engine compartment door and install the safety pin.
2. Raise the cooling pack until the safety latch engages.
3. Visually inspect the hydraulic fan motor. If the part number located on the motor housing is 289-6384, there is no need to perform this service procedure. If the part number is 225-9260 proceed with this service program.
4. Remove the hydraulic fan motor. Refer to RENR4863 Disassembly and Assembly, Skid Steer Loaders Engine Supplement, ?Gear Motor (Fan) ? Remove?.
5. Visually inspect the mating surface of the removed motor. If the section bolt clearance holes are circular as shown in Image 1, the motor is acceptable and should be reinstalled. If the section bolt clearance holes are slotted as in Image 2, the motor should be replaced with a new 289-6384 Motor. (The new 289-6384 Motor clearance holes will be slotted.)
6. Install the hydraulic fan motor. Refer to RENR4863 Disassembly and Assembly, Skid Steer Loaders Engine Supplement, ?Gear Motor (Fan) ? Install?.
7. Refer to RENR4867 Testing and Adjusting - "Baseline for the Hydrostatic System" for the correct fan speed and test oil temperature guidelines. The fan speed is established by adjusting the fan motor relief valve.
