D 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease 1 Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Heat seal (9) to 150 °C (302 °F). Use Tooling (B) to install seal (9). Install the seal with the shoulder toward the oil end of the accumulator.
Repeat Step 1 for seals (10), (8), and (11) in that order.

Lubricate the upper area of the cylinder wall of accumulator (1) and piston assembly (3) with the lubricant that is being sealed. Use Tooling (C) to install piston assembly (3). Push piston assembly (3) in accumulator (1) with the hollow side of the piston assembly toward the gas side.
Install O-ring seals (6) and (5) on end caps (7) and (4).
Lubricate the O-ring seals with Tooling (D).
Using Tooling (A), screw end caps (4) and (7) into accumulator (1) until end caps (4) and (7) are flush with the ends of accumulator (1). Continue to screw in end caps (4) and (7) until there is enough clearance for the installation of the locking pins (not shown).
Insert the locking pins back through the ends of the tube on the cylinder assembly. Unscrew end caps (4) and (7) until end caps (4) and (7) come into contact with the locking pins.
Install the labels (not shown), over the locking pins.
Install valve (2). Tighten valve (2) to a torque of 180 N m (132 lb ft).
Charge the accumulator. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Steering Accumulator - Test and Charge".End By:
