11. Make sure the threaded puller hole in support pin assembly (9) is clean prior to installation of Tooling (B). Fasten Tooling (B) to support pin assembly (9) as shown. Fasten a lifting strap and a hoist to Tooling (B) to support it as shown. Pull support pin assembly (9) out of the bore into the receiving sleeve.12. Use a pry bar to remove the support pin assembly the remainder of the way out of the bore. The weight of support pin assembly (9) is 39 kg (85 lb). Remove the spacer from the support pin assembly.13. Remove right hand boom cylinder (5) from the machine. The weight of the right hand boom cylinder is 504 kg (1100 lb). Some machines may be equipped with shims between the boom cylinders and frame at the boom cylinder-to-frame pin joint. For assembly purposes, put identification marks on the shims as to their location.14. Remove the shims (if so equipped) at the boom cylinder-to-frame pin joint. 15. Fasten a hoist to the left hand boom cylinder. Fasten Tooling (C) to the right hand side of boom cylinder support pin (6). Fasten a hoist to the tooling to support it. Pull the boom cylinder support pin out of the rod end of the left hand boom cylinder. Lower the left hand boom cylinder down as far as it will go. Remove Tooling (C) from the boom cylinder support pin.16. Repeat the procedure in Steps 5 through 14 to complete the removal of the left hand boom cylinder. The following steps are for the installation of the boom cylinders.
Typical Example17. Make sure the pin bores in the boom cylinders, boom and frame are clean and free of dirt prior to installation of the boom cylinders.18. Fasten a hoist to right hand boom cylinder (5), and put it in position in the frame. Make sure the pin bores in the boom cylinder and frame are in alignment with each other.19. Put a thin coat of 5P-0960 Multipurpose Grease on support pin assembly (9) that holds the boom cylinder to the frame. Install Tool (D) in the end of support pin assembly (9). Install the spacer on support pin assembly (9) in the position shown.Temporarily install the support pin assembly with a hammer. Remove Tool (D) from the support pin assembly. Do not remove the hoist from the boom cylinder at this time.
